Pique 2019

Pique examines female pleasure, secrecy, and agency using sex toys as mark-making tools. The work responds to a female sex toy stripped of a wellbeing award for being deemed “immoral” and “obscene,” highlighting a gendered double standard, as no male sex toy has faced the same award rejection. Informed by candid conversations and surveys with women aged 18–65, the work challenges cultural stigma surrounding female sexuality and wellbeing.

Each imprint reflects individual choices of time, technique, and body, transforming private experience into visible form and inviting dialogue around autonomy, pleasure, and mental health.
